Sounds reasonable to meAngel

I've come to the conclusion you care nothing for a good conversation, all you are interested in is to insult. Cheap shot artist comes to mind.

I have no gods, I serve only the one true God. Jesus was talking about not showing off, pompous if you will.

Cheapshot artist hey??

Then look closely at the case of one Andrea Yates http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notor...tes/5.html

A woman who truly believed that the only way to save her five children from hell was to kill them by drowning before they "stumbled".
And thereby, incidentally, carrying your theology to its logical conclusion.
So again, is this woman a good christian?
Because she is a true believer afterall.

BTW I think the REALLY interesting person in this joyously christian case is the family pastor, Michael Woreniecki.

From the article....

Quote:According to a former follower, the religion preached by the Woronieckis involves the idea that women have Eve’s witch nature and need to be subservient to men. The preacher judged harshly those mothers who were permissive and who allowed their children to go in the wrong direction. In other words, if the mother was going to Hell for some reason, so would the children.

The lady was very mentally disturbed, she was nothing less than a murderer of her children. Her status for salvation belongs to an omniscient God.

Stop skirting the issue. Either the works matter to god or they don't. If they don't, then they neither help nor hinder your getting into heaven. Is that about it?

Sorry that you can not see that I have given you the answer and did not skirt around anything.

So, Godschild, if someone does a good act, you think that displays that they have already been accepted into Heaven?
Well, then I guess I'm going to Heaven as an atheist then, since I've done plenty of good stuff. Oh, but wait, I don't even believe in that shit.
So you're wrong. Good acts are not a sign of salvation.

She suffered from depression, that's not the same as mental illness.

The question remains, is she a true christian and will she get into heaven?
BTW your god is NOT omnisentient.

Your god apparently sent a flood to kill those who he believed were sinners. So your god is mentally disturbed.

No, all you have given are evasions about the importance of good deeds. There is only one question before you - do they matter to god or not?

I'm speaking about the works that God wants from His people, works that show one is walking in a relationship with Christ. Most everyone do things that are deemed good by man, the works of christian brothers/sisters being there for each other in their time of needs. Good works like feed your enemy and cloth him if he is in need. This is a statement made by Christ for christians to follow, we are to love others (all others) no matter what. He was not talking about just those who would harm us, all those who are nonbelievers are the enemy of Christ and christianity.

You're wrong, He is and it is for Him to know. Depression is not a mental illness, then what is it? Who says she did not have a mental illness, to do such a thing one would have to be mentally ill.

Wrong again as usual, God knew they were not redeemable.

WHOA!
Hold it. Depression is definitely a mental illness. It doesn't cause violence or religion (so it can't be blamed for this), but it is definitely a mental illness, as well as a physical one.

Depression usually accompanies something else... like schizophrenia. Don't get me wrong, plenty of people are "just" depressed without being violent or especially unstable. However, if you have another serious illness like schizophrenia, you're usually also depressed. Assuming (correctly) that depression doesn't cause stuff like this, it's likely that depression wasn't the only illness that she suffered from.

Of coarse they are, they do not have any value for the grace of salvation.
