If the only way that you can understand the bible is to believe in God then you also must accept that the bible is the word of God.
Having accepted this when you come across things in the bible that don't make any sense or contradict themselves you are going to immediately come to the conclusion that you are not reading it correctly and the fault lies with you as you have already accepted that the bible is the work of God and therefore cannot contain errors or nonsense.
Your only recourse is to then contort your way of thinking to conform to what is written and to convince yourself that it does make sense when in reality, it doesn't.
When the mind is confronted with nonsense and the logical explanation is closed off to it then it must come up with another solution. In the case of bible believers the only course is to fabricate a solution in their imagination that agrees with the text, no matter what the text says.
This is why there are almost as many interpretations of the bible as there are believers.
Christians are testament to this fact.

Well personally I have never found anything contradictory. There is stuff I don't understand sure and I work that out as time passes. Like how is Christ fully man and fully God at the same time.. although this is post bible thinking rather than inter. There is certainly no requirement to understand everything.
I guess you don't understand life, the universe & everything Darwinian but that doesn't prevent you making assumptions? You trust in your worldview to live your life. You assume the pavement outside your house isn't going to collapse into a hole and walk over it trusting in your belief it's stable. So do I.
Assuming God leads me to live a certain way that plays out in a way consistent to what is written, spoken and lived out by me and other Christians. Assuming not God leads you to conclude that I'm foolish. These are both acceptable worldviews to me, but not to you.

Quote:2 Kings 2
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
Quote:John 3
13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.
We'll just chalk it up that John didn't know or simply forgot....yeah, that will work........
