Poll: Abortion for minors.
#71
RE: Poll: Abortion for minors.
I have to say, through the handful of responses above, there are a lot of negative vibes about parents.

I definitely am not assuming anything because it isn't my place to do so, but I figure it would be a good opportunity to explain why I feel the way I do about the ruling and all.

My father passed away when I was five and my mother raised me solely by herself for over twenty years. I'm extremely fortunate to share a closeness with her even though it can be a love-hate relationship, but I still love her to bits. Big Grin And she has provided me with so much that I'm blessed with an awesome home and family.

I guess I just have a more positive look on these things. I know there are a lot of screwed up parents and people in general, in this world, but I still believe in good existing. I do feel strongly about certain things of course. So please forgive me if I seem a little stubborn in this instance. I definitely agree with all your points though! Smile

Good exists, and i would like to help generate more of it...

Bad exists, and i would like to help turn it into good...

This law, if it came to pass... would help to generate the bad... and slowly change some of the good into bad...

The road to hell is paved with the best of intentions. A lot of those parents mean well... but in action they do not do well. 70% of those polled in AK... who mean well, and do not know how to do well... 30% of those polled in AK... who mean well, and know how to do well. Those who did not answer the poll contain the number that did not mean well... which seems to be a large minority of those who did not answer the poll.

You are truly one of the lucky ones, just as I was to some extent when it came to the relationship with my parents. (I didn't meet my parents until I was a older..my extreme southern Baptist grandmother is who raised me)...

As far as my parents, after I finally did have a relationship with them, I knew that I would always be able to talk with them about anything, so this law would not have made a difference. Now, if it would have been my grandmother, I would have cut off my own leg to make sure in not facing her with any information in which would go against her Bible thumping morals......Tongue

Somehow, I am against abortion unless it endangers the mother's life. I kind of see the foetus as a pre-born human baby. And I am not a christian. Though I believe in God, but I believe he is an immoral God, and therefore my stand against abortion has nothing to do with him.

At what point would you say the fetus becomes a human being? Conception? Something else?

Is it not legit for their parents to know about it?

Doesn't that depend on the parents and their relationship with their child?

I'd like to believe, for example, that my youngest child would come to me if she wanted advice (and I think she probably would) BUT if she couldn't I would genuinely want her to seek the advice of a qualified professional even if that meant cutting me out of the loop.
