An encounter with an angel... Or not.

RE: An encounter with an angel... Or not.
G-C, did any one of these clearly militant atheists and their poor pet xtian ask you to mind your own business? Was it pointed out that it was a private conversation over a private meal to which your contribution might not have been invited? Because I guarantee you that's exactly what I would have started with. Regardless of how loudly they may have been talking, wading in as you say you did is downright rude; unless they were being disruptive, in which case you had the right to ask them - politely - to keep the noise down and be considerate to other diners, and that is all.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

GC is allowed to do whatever he wants as long as he believes his god is backing him.

Onward xtian soldiers, eh? Defending a god that's powerless to defend itself?

They welcomed me into the conversation, then started with the same bull I hear on this site, I was more than glad to point out their errors, when they asked me questions I gave them answers they could not refute, one of them seemed like a nice person then there was one that tried to be a butt, and the third got out off the conversation so after we started.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Why do I get the feeling that the people on the other end of this enounter with GC would describe it quite differently than he does?

I'm sure he's got a different take on our interactions here than those that disagree with him as well. I don't see why meatspace would be any different.

Because that's what you would do to hide your embarrassment, if they are like you then you would hear a different story, if they are honest people then you would not, besides there was a room full of witnesses.

None of whom can be contacted for comment, of course, so they can safely be excised as irrelevant. Why bother even mentioning them?

For the same reason Christians invoke the 500 supposed witnesses to the resurection as proof of that bit of buffoonery. It's simply an attempt to give credibility to ridiculous fantasy.
