Um - not to take G-C's side ( because he's a fucking idiot ) but how can you call yourself a xtian if you don't believe in the resurrection? How much more "supernatural" can you get than a dead jew coming back to life?
If you reject that particular piece of bullshit why even bother to call yourself a xtian?

The resurrection is a fable in the Christian culture. You don't have to believe it happened in order to practise the faith. My former Archbishop of York (the second highest in CoE hierarchy) denied even the existence of the historical Jesus. He denied more than the resurrection. Would you call him a non-Christian?? Surely not. Let's get real!!!!
However, the resurrection is a beautiful tale that we can use to build up the community of faithful. What better imagery than our Lord rising from the dead. Surely we can be inspired to do greater things if we just think of that fable.
Lion and Godschild, can we quickly agree on the debate? I can't spend much time on AF because I really have a lot of work to do but I can do the debate when I'm resting between studying. The debate will be my break from my studies. Please hurry!!!!!!
Let me know who will be participating as my opponent and who will be the spokesman posting the debate on behalf of the rest. I will then write to a moderator and request him to enable the Debate forum for me and the spokesman. Since I'm proposing the motion, I will probably have to begin. If you don't agree and would like to begin, I'm fine with that too. How many rounds should we have? Unlimited? Shall we argue one point at a time or various points at one go? What time limit should we fix for the other party to post his rebuttal?
I have written the other suggested rules earlier on this thread. Please let me know if they are ok with you.
Let the battle begin, folks!

No, truth shall not hide under the bed, as Jesus himself said or is supposed to have said. It should be exposed. I know many "Bible-believing" Christians would rather not let such a debate to be exposed to the world. I can understand why. But I say let the world see the Ultimate Battle of the Universe between Godschild and Greneknight.

jesus had a bed,wow this guy was so advanced. I think that god will read your thread GK here on atheistforums, believe me he will, and he will be proud of his creation.

Oh no no no. You're not getting off with that. So what *are* your Christian beliefs and what is your basis for having them?

That's nothing; he also drove a Honda but for obvious reasons preferred to keep quiet about it: "For I did not speak of my own Accord" (John 12:49).
Not to mention Joshua was a biker: "Joshua's Triumph was heard throughout the land." (Joshua 6:27)
There are other similar but questionable examples.

Sure.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Nah, Joshua was real Old Testament. Suggesting that the successor to Moses buggered about in a four-door family saloon? What are you, crazy?

My take on his belief system is that is is a Buddhist. He just uses jesus as the figurehead instead of Buddha.

It is like throwing a bunch of stray cats in a closet and let them scratch each others eyes out. LOL
Let's get something straight, I did not agree to a formal debate, I said I would take 'gk' up on his position as a Christian using scriptures. Once again 'gk' has lied, anyone interested can go back to the post 'gk' has put up as the OP and see for yourselves. I will stand by what I said and it's this 'gk' is not a scriptural Christian and I can prove it. We do not need to waste the debate site to do this, a few scriptures and I will be finished with 'gk'.
Zappa I do not debate those I know to be Christians, the differences in what we might believe outside of salvation is not what makes us Christians, and not worth a debate, formal or otherwise. The only ones you will see me seriously argue with are those who call their selves Christians and do not stand up to a scriptural description of a Christian.

The bible is full of stupidity and Myth. The best is the earth is 10,000 years old. It's laughable.
Who said he did not die, this could possibly be a foretelling of Christ's death and resurrection.

I did and continue to do so, put him on this forum and I will call him, to his face (if that's possible on the net) that he is an unbeliever, you know you make this to easy.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Let us DO get this straight. So you are willing to debate on an open forum, where there are too many participants that muddle the issue, where you can move as far away from the topic as you like and where you can simply ignore any and all of his arguments or address one or two and walk away claiming victory? And you are NOT willing to debate him on grounds where rules which could and would determine a clear winner - thereby forcing you to face it when you have lost? Coward.

Will you now? Let's see -

In both cases, you say that GK is not a Christian. Here you say that he is not a SCRIPTURAL Christian. Moving the goalposts much?
Well, joke's on you pal. GK has been saying from the very beginning that he is not a SCRIPTURAL Christian - he is a CULTURAL one. As shown by his repeated and consistent disdain for the scriptures.
Now, try to actually stand by what you said and prove that he is not a Christian or else show everybody that you are a liar.

Then stop cowering and seriously argue with him in the formal debate section. That place, is in fact, made for serious debates.
