When people no longer care about how/ think there needs to be an objective reason for why we got here and where if we are going somewhere after death, then religion will be history.

There doesn't have to be an objective why, nor does there need to be an afterlife. If we consider the possibility that these basic religious assumptions may not be true, then it quickly becomes clear that religion is unnecessary.
