Secularism is the guarantee of religious freedom (or indeed the freedom not to believe).

It's amazing how many theists miss the point of secularism every time they try and criticise it. Undecided

Yes, but the Rolls Royce made toys at the same time that actually worked.

It's possible for an oppressive secular government to use oppression to build the foundations of development, and even of civil society. Examples of such are numerous: South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore. I have not found a single case of an oppressive religious government that, through religious oppression, did any good.

Yeah? Anyone with unfettered access to high temperature alloys could have made that developmental dead end appear to work for a few years.

Where do you find descendants of Rolls Royce centrifugal turbojets today? German developed axial turbo jets, on the other hand, exercises total dominion in the world of jets for the last 50 years.

What developed afterwards, RR are still going, but at the time, the engine used in the Mig 15 blew everything else away.

Not really, it's Mig-15's light weight and low wingloading that gave it the climb rate and ceiling to blow everything else away, it's engines, if anything, forced upon it a fat fuselage compared to what would be possible with an axial turbojet, and probably degraded its performance as a result.

And the German jets were consistently shot down by planes with props. Of the toys of the time, it is hard to see it bettered. You can come up with all the ifs and the buts, The engine developed in WWII that worked best is ....
