He just really pissed me off. Quote:Yes sir! Seriously? Why do you think I'm the only one arguing you now? It's because I'm the only one who thinks that you may have a small bit of rationality left in your brain. I guess I was wrong. I march against the Asagods
To bring the end of time. I am pure and endless pain And Surtr is my name. See me rise, the mighty Surt, Destroyer of the universe. Bringer of flames and endless hurt Scorcher of men and Earth.
Umm, guys - it's probably best to forgo the parting shots when one of us tells you to knock it the fuck off.
Just sayin'.
So I have a crazy idea, here. Crazy. How about we figure out whether hell as defined in the bible is indeed eternal? And on another note, I'd like to know who all here thinks that god has any morality whatsoever? Drich brought up his point, that morality is mans' attempt to replicate gods' righteousness, in the form of ones' own self righteousness. Correct me please if I'm wrong Drich, I just get confused about not talking about god in terms of morality/immorality.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite. Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment. Quote:Some people deserve hell. I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong. For aeonian to mean "eternal" in the sense of punishment is contradictory to the definition of eternal... Eternal has no beginning nor end so by that logic, all who are supposedly doomed to eternal suffering have already been suffering for eternity and will continue suffering for eternity. . Quote:For aeonian to mean "eternal" in the sense of punishment is contradictory to the definition of eternal... Stop being so fucking dumb. "Eternal" has more than one meaning. We can all check the dictionary. 1. without beginning or end; lasting forever; always existing ( opposed to temporal ): eternal life. 2. perpetual; ceaseless; endless: eternal quarreling; eternal chatter. The second definition does not require a lack of beginning, and the word is most commonly used in this fashion.
Forgive me for being thick, but, what's does it matter if there was a beginning to sufferring if in both definitions there's no ending? That would mean hell is eternal or no?

LOL, I'm not dumb enough to claim that something pertaining to an age is eternal, YOU are...

Quote:The noun “aion” in Greek literature has always meant “an indeterminate period of time. It could be as short as the time Jonah spent in the belly of a fish (three days or nights), the length of a man’s Or, it could be ten seconds short of forever, a word which is the most extreme expression of 'indeterminate'. If condemnation in hell is not meant to be eternal, there will surely be a wealth of information demonstrating that there is certainly a finite length of time souls spend in hell and exactly what happens to them when this finite period is satisfied. And you can, of course, supply this information. |
