If that happened I would become a Deist and everything else would continue as normal.

I think in that case religious people would be much more arrogant, but my own possition wouldnt change.
Proving a creator doesnt even prove the entity that did the creating is on his or her own or that he did the creation on purpose, the universe could be a piece of bacteria inside gods toilet that was created inside his stomach really.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

If a god were proven to both exist and be omnipotent (and how one would prove that, I do not know), I would make it my personal mission to kill him/her/it, because such a god would be evil.

Why would such a god be evil? And how would you go about killing it if it was omnipotent?

The problem of evil. If an omnipotent god existed, it would have to be evil to allow innocent children to starve to death, for example.

Well, I didn't say it would be easy. But I would have to try.

So an omnipotent deity who created the universe would be just like a human with supernatural powers? I find this an interesting idea seeing as humans have always had a tendency to imagine deities as being just like humans with supernatural powers.

Why should it regard humans as being more special than dinosaurs or any other species which has become extinct?

First find where this hypothetical God is located and then get to to him/her/it. Big Grin

PS: Everything points to this hypothetical God starting things off with the big bang. What if it had been sentimental about dinosaurs and saved them from being wiped out? Or, to bring things near to our time, what if it had been sentimental about Neanderthals and prevented them from becoming extinct.? Maybe true omnipotence is having the sense to leave evolution to get on with it. Smile

Let's say that science proves the existence of God - A perfect logical proof (with evidence) that clearly states that the universe was created by a creator. Nothing more, nothing less...

What will happen to the people on earth?
What religion would they cling to?
Would there be world peace?

Why would a creator necessitate god? I mean isn't it just as likely that this creator is a mad scientist with no supernatural powers whatsoever?

http://www.simulation-argument.com/

I honestly don't understand the argument that the universe needs a creator therefore the creator must be a god. It seems like a logical fallacy to me, either a false dilemma or a non sequitur. Perhaps even both. I'm not sure tbh.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned btw, this is quite a long thread.

The OP isn't saying that the universe needs a divine creator. It's just meant to be a fun exercise speculating about what would happen if science proved that God created the universe but said no more about God.

Speculating about what would happen if science proved we were in a computer simulation run by a mad scientist would be a different topic.

I'd run like hell. He's responsible for the deaths of millions, I'd then be another. A lot of us would be killed. Medicine and, a lot would be banned because to man made. But really, when would that ever happen?
