Remember Abe Lincoln.
Lincoln despite him attending church with his wife and children, never professed he was a Christian. I believe Barack Obama has professed he is a Christian, I could be wrong although.
Different times. When Lincoln was President he did not have to deal with a crazed xtian fundie element.

I don't know. I'm pretty skeptical of his Christianity. He was raised by an Atheist mother and a lapsed Muslim step-father. His conversion to Christianity came around the same time he got into politics. Sure he went to crazy ass church, but that was his wife's church. That's a common story. I don't think the only alternative to believing Christian is Atheist though. He would be any number of things.
I can see why some Atheists think that he is though, Obama is the greatest empty suit politician of all-time. People project their own beliefs onto him constantly, even if he's said the opposite. Many of my liberal friends think that he wants to legalized marijuana, even though he has an abysmal record on it.

He says he's a christian so I figure he is one. Our Christians here can't even figure out who's is and isn't so I'm not even going to try.

People generally think of him as being that but yet he's also he kind of isn't, not if you really want to be technical about it. He just kind of looks that way so that's what he may as well be, but you know it's not as simple as that. Does he believe in God? Sure. Does he believe in the Holy Trinity? Probably not but no-ones going to grill him over it.
Because if you're 'only half-black' you're not black, right?
Got to love all of the qualifies, special pleading, and general hilarity around here lately
I think that's kinda what he's saying: Barak Obama strikes him as kinda half-Christian.
And that's where most Christians are, really. They believe i certain parts of their church or their theology or their holy book, but they dismiss others. I believe I've heard them called 'cherry pickers' or 'cafeteria Christians.'

He's a politician. Doesn't that automatically make him a liar?

Yup... I'm aware of what he's saying. What I said is that what he said was stupid.

Yep. It's just their own, special little way of excluding Christians they don't agree with.
I suppose their constantly calling Obama a Muslim is kinda an extension of that, too. It's not so much that they actually think he believes "there is no god but allah and Mohammed is his prophet" but that he's willing to show them basic human respect and exercise freedom of religion with them.

It's more the case that you're just considered to be black unless there isn't a hint of any kind of colour in you at all. It's the one drop rule. So Barrack Obama is Christian in that sense rather than the full blood of lamb sense. God doesn't speak to him and tell him to invade other countries either. He's a rationalist with some politically appropriate belief which will be genuine to some degree.

A Christian is a believer in Jesus Christ and/or his teachings... if Obama is a believer in Jesus Christ and/or his teachings: he's a Christian. Assuming he is, if he's a 'slight' believer or '<insert other qualifier>' believer: he's a Christian.
Earth's moon is a moon regardless of whether it be crescent, blood, full, harvest, new, blue, or made of green cheese... a Christian is such regardless of whether they be denominational, nondenominational, cherry-picking, 100% literalist or metaphorically allegorical, or even a political black man who's clean-shaven.
Has nothing to do with 'one drop'... it's definitively correct, literally. Not that it'll stop people from being ridiculously asinine about it, of course
