I think this was a Satanic plot, this whole "playing backwards" idea. I remembering taking most of my McDonalds paycheck and buying a new needle, and I actually tried to run the turntable backwards manually, and snap!, time to buy another sapphire needle.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Well, I do have a place in my heart for Ceiling Cat of course, if only because we have actual evidence of his existence:

And I'd be mad not to believe in the Discworld gods, such as Blind Io, Nuggan, Offler the crocodile god, Bilious the "oh god" of hangovers, and my personal favourite Anoia, the minor goddess of Things That Stick in Drawers. The amount ot textual evidence for their existence is quite frankly overwhelming.
For any other gods, I might more correctly be termed a polyatheist, a disbeliever in many gods, if such a term made any sense. But then, when have I ever been concerned with making sense?
However, in the interest of not giving our friend an easy out, perhaps I ought to rephrase my earlier comment thuswise: "show me any and I'll stop."

It's not really a complaint, you see, because a God who is perpetually hiding, and only according to his followers, is probably a God who doesn't exist.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
