Is it strange that I want there to be a God ?
RE: Is it strange that I want there to be a God ?
I have Creed on ignore. He never ceases to put forth adolescent, ignorant, foolishness, so I really could care less about his views on anything. Sorry to fail to answer the questions that you have.

Christianity was the most significant influence on Rome, on Western Europe and on America, and later, on Africa and South America and the rest of the world. Time is dated by Jesus Christ. The entire world follows the languages developed by the Christian nations. Science developed in Christian countries. Human rights increased in Christian nations. The standard of living was dramatically improved. The modern world grew out of thinking that occurred in predominately Christian nations.

As for the Greeks, Plato and Aristotle both had theistic aspects to their beliefs, and many of their interpreters were either theistic or Christian.

Is this important for you, does your faith somehow hinge on the accuracy of any of this?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So? Anders Behring Breivik claimed to be a Christian. How are you making a correlation?

Making a correlation between what? It is not as if I am making a controversial argument. Christianity defined the modern world.

I'm not convinced that Christianity was as influential as you say it is - can you direct me to something that would enlighten me with regards to this topic?
Even if it has influenced our societies, today, so what? Why does that matter?

I'm far more than unconvinced, I'll call flat out bullshit. One minute these douchenozzles will rail on about how "far from christ" the modern world is, and the next they'll claim that christianity defined it.

If you have an open mind, you will check this out. It is an authoritative history of Christianity by a professor at Yale. It is long, worth buying though just to flip through. It is not an apologetic for Christianity, it is a serious work of historical scholarship by an established historian.

There's a difference between an open mind and an empty head. Just pick what you feel is the strongest bit in support of your ridiculous bullshit and paraphrase.

I would have to order it - wait a week, read it in another week, then come back. Can you sum up some of the important parts?
I'll check my college library to see what they've got.

Joel it is a serious history of Christianity, I think it is 2000 pages. You should buy it and read it, just to understand the nature of the Christian faith and what Christianity is about.
