1. What you speak of are excuses not to choose it Ryan. Excuses and not reasons mind you.
2. And you don't get it. That much is abundantly clear. You think human potential as realised in religious experience is fully realised in technology? Please explain.

On what grounds would you contest that your estimation of what "maximally optimized" human potential is -is better than what Ryan's may be, and that's just for starters, eventually you'll have to actually..you know..explain..how god or conceptions of god has a hand in any maximizing. The thing that was asked of you, the thing for which you offered this empty fucking platitude.
IMO, apologists are given too free a pass on these boards to pull a pigeon and have their bullshit humored as though they'd done anything other than run off at the mouth and then flee from their own statements asap.
Forgive me for being so inquisitive, but have we even established wtf human potential is in any of these posts yet, whether they be in platitude, humor, or jest?

I don't see the application of Christs standards either. I do see it, and did see it in people striving to make those things happen.

People did it.
Now... if only people had been told about some sky-fairy and perpetuated that idea by telling it to other people...
People have been doing it all along...
If only this notion made more sense than "there is a person loving entity that created the whole Universe on purpose just to put people on the tiny rock so that the souls of said people would keep it company once they died"....

Rhythm, as you've more than proved your inabilities on that front, I have no need to test the water again. Your arm waving serves to cement my opinion of you. If you could demonstrate any slight interest in taking on the subject, I would happily oblige. Until then...

People did it.
People did it in a context of a Christian influence. Selflessness etc was championed. Presently we're travelling in the opposite direction. Slavery returns. Technology is facilitating this. Not that technology is the cause.

What am I supposed to be taking on? Elaborate?

Assumed freedom Pokie. We assume people forced to work in inhuman conditions want to do that and that no greed is involved in that process, or we turn a blind eye to the injustice, happy with our diminishing hold on wealth. Some slavery, not that I condone it one little bit, and I don't think God does either, is far preferable to what a lot of people are subject to at present.

So... "assumed freedom" is kicking the bucket and slavery is coming back, is it?
