Oh - and in the U.S., we do allow children to work when they are old enough. I and many others started working part-time at age 14, and I worked in the summer picking produce starting at age 12.

Why do Children not Have Human Rights?

Son, cut the apron strings, feel the lightening sensation of letting your balls drop and attempt to get a girlfriend that's not inflatable. But please, please, double bag your jimmy. The world will thank you.
We got any bookies here? I wanna place a bet... Quote:until a certain maturity level is reached, they are not capable of making informed, rational decisions. Sadly, That doesn't work so well, either.
And now for the Republican response:
Because they're no longer fetuses? Duh-herr.
@OP,
For the same reason you don't hire an eight year old to manage your retirement account.
I was with you to a point about the sort of indoctrination governments perform on kids (I think a pledge of allegiance is a ridiculous thing for kids to recite) but then you went went off the deep-en....cliff.
If we don't indoctrinate them, how can we be sure they'll act exactly how we want them to?

Quote:It is completely disgusting how children are treated in society, for the most part they are herded around like livestock by government and religion. They are seldom consulted for preferences and their desires are rarely, if ever met. The maturation process of the frontal lobe of the brain continues until around age 25. This part of the brain is the one that you use for critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, controlling your urges, etc. If a 22 year old is at risk of making a bad decision while drinking, what would a 7 year old do given the freedom that you speak of? More than control, it's a matter of protection from themselves. Ay, Culero.
Pointing around: "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you're cool, fuck you, I'm out!"

Koolays grand vision of the future!
..... or past???? There is a reason why these institutions and laws are in place and the reason is the massive amount of childlabor that was used in Europe and America for a very long time. The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason. |
