RE: Trinity
Someone has probably already said this, but I'll say it again.

The idea of a holy trinity is a very pagan idea, which, like the ideas of a virgin birth or a resurrection and promise of eternal reward are.

Here are a few examples:

In Babylon it was Nimrod, Semiramas, and Tammuz
In Egypt it was Osiris, Isis, and Horus
Within Israel pagan gnosticism it was Kether, Hokhmah, and Binah
In Plato's philosophy it was the Unknown Father, Nous/Logos, and the world soul.

God cannot be broken into 3 parts:
EXO 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

ISA 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

ISA 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

ISA 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.

ISA 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

REV 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

A trinity was not a new idea in the time of Jesus. It served the newly-forming cult of Christianity quite well, which was breaking away from its Jewish roots and trying to appeal to pagan people. That is where we get all these super-miracles in the Gospels from: long-running Pagan ideas. They were all added as a sales-pitch to the Gentiles.

The Holy Trinity defied the rules of the OT, but fit perfectly with the ideals of pagans, just like much of the NT.

Basically everything in the bible is derived from paganism. The writers had to draw inspiration from somewhere, and thus they chose the pagan customs of the time and what pagans believed in the past. It certainly made for easier conversions, especially for the gullible primitives who were scared into believing in the new religion.

You have some problems with your post, first, Isaiah 44:6, the first LORD refers to the Father and the second LORD refers to Jesus, this is two of the three mentioned as one, yet separate.
Second, Isaiah 44:8 God says He knows of no other gods, that would include the pagan ones you mentioned, so they do not exist.
Third, Revelation 1:8 This is Jesus the Son making the same statement as in Isaiah 44:6, which the Father made in that verses about both.
Fourth, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all spoken of in the first 3 chapters of Genesis.
Fifth, the Holy Spirit ans Son of God are spoken of numerous times in the OT.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

A casual stroll through G-C's horseshit shows he has his head up his ass.

His shitty King James Version.

Is 44:6

Quote:Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Is 44:6

Quote:Isaiah 44:6 (Complete Jewish Bible)

6 Thus says ADONAI, Isra'el's King and Redeemer, ADONAI-Tzva'ot: "I am the first, and I am the last; besides me there is no God.

Stick in one little extra word and the jesus freaks think they created another fucking god.

Stop telling jews how to be jews, G-C. You have enough trouble with your own bullshit.

Of course I can choose what reasoning I accept. That's why you're trying to convince me, otherwise we won't be having this conversation because neither of us will be able to change our minds.

????

Even though you and some others here appear determined not to change for the good, there may still be some atheists, agnostics or non-christians here who will.

I also constantly feel a need to tell my storey and explain the choices I see to as many who care to listen.

So you think being a superstitious old fuck like you is a change for the good, huh?

Fuck off.

Change? To good? I'd say that you're entitled to your opinion, but as you HARDLY know us at all, your opinion doesn't mean jack shit, old man.

First you need to prove that your god exists, and then we'll talk about whether it's good or not.

Well I suggest that you stop if you truly care about spreading your brand of ideas, because you're not very good at it and I suspect you've moved many readers closer to being an atheist if they aren't already there.
