Not bashing nor defending but curious what your take is on this This prophecy is oddly clear. The city would have had to have been sunk and abandon after an attack by a Nebuchadnezzar.

That's only because they didn't have faith in Jesus. If they did, they'd have known that Tyre didn't exist and so the PLO must have based their operations elsewhere and any intel to the contrary must be wrong.
And before you say, "but that was the OT", remember, they fell out of favor with the Lord sometime around when the Gospel of John was penned and "the Jews" became a separate, hostile faction.
