To what extent is a rape victim responsible for the crime?

To what extent is a rape victim responsible for the crime?
The youtube user Thunderf00t recently uploaded a vid, which had some points in it with which I happen to disagree and for which I would like to read your opinion. I`ll copy the same comment I left under the vid into this post.

I disagree at one point. There is a good reason why a rape victim is told that it is not her or his fault, mainly because in domestic cases of rape a woman or man may not report this to the authorities based on wrong feelings of guilt. Rape can cause feelings of guilt for the victim and in a criminal investigation into a serious crime such as this the prosecution should not waste time with "justifications" for the crime.

Other than that, I agree with the f00t.

I believe the only question for the victim is this: did you consent?

She consented. No means yes, right?

Word. For fucks sake, its not like its impossible to have adult discussion about sexuality and actually make sure someone actually is consenting.

Absolutly, spot on.

The question that circles arround my mind though is: To what extent does a person have responsibility in being active in crime prevention to prevent a crime against him or herself?

Actively fighting crime can get you killed. Batman's longevity is a fabrication. The full weight of responsibility falls on the perpetrator of crime. Period.

It's prudent to take precautions. However, imprudence on the part of the victim is no excuse for the attacker.

How effective is that type of prevention? Can we actually prepare potential victims? I think answers to those questions are necessary, sir Germans. My answer to your question though is, I do not think a person can prevent a crime against themselves to a large degree, so I do not think it's their responsibility.

I am not talking about active crime fighting as a vigilanty.

I am talking about being aware of what situations may get you into a crime and how you can prevent it.

And I am certainly not talking about taking the guilt from a criminal and leaving it on the victim.
