Atheist or really Agnostic

RE: Atheist or really Agnostic
No wonder I haven't found god! I never thought to check the ingredients in either of those products.

Good, now replace Santa with your favorite god and you'll, hopefully, understand my non belief in that god.

It would be extremely hard to prove such an absolute negation. Even if you could look throughout the entire universe, which you cannot, and found no God, that still would not prove that God does not exist. It would at best prove that God could not be seen.

Because of this, it is impossible to absolutely claim that there is no God. A person could be fairly convinced of their position, but they could not prove it. In essence they would logically have to be an agnostic, with a personal belief that to the best of their knowledge, there is no God. But then logically they are agnostic. They really do not know.

Since logically they are agnostic, they must allow for the possibility that God may exist, if they are to be true to a logical position. They certainly can keep their personal belief of no God, unless they could be shown that God does exist. But an honest agnostic must allow for the possibility that God exists.

Those that claim that they will always be an atheist, may be showing that it is not logical to absolutely claim that there is no God, but a bias to not even consider the evidence.

Well, you could render the whole topic moot by, you know... proving that there is a god.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Well, by your very first statement in this thread, this means you claim that there is no Santa. But that very claim is to pose an absolute negation about a jolly old elf. It would be extremely hard to prove such an absolute negation. Even if you could look throughout the entire Universe, which you cannot, and found no Satna, that still would not prove that Santa does not exist. It would at best prove that Santa could not be seen.

Because of this, it is impossible to claim absolutely that there is no Santa.

Etc etc. You see where I'm going with this..?

Now, to echo my previous post to you (which you haven't even acknowledged), do you accept all of the above simple logic? And if not, why not?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The Holy Bible is true. There is no mention of Santa.
So Santa does not exist.
Which every grown up already knows because they actually play the part.

Your analogy shows no basis of logic at all.

Savedbygracethrufaith, you are a fucking idiot. Or a poe.

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

Again a bad analogy.

We can actually see and touch a 747.

We can only see fake Santas.

Oh, that's good then, because the holy bible also has no mention of you personally either, and I was getting rather tired of your shtick. It's a relief that you don't exist, by your own logic. Well, by someone's logic, anyway. People that don't exist can't have logic.

Quote:Which every grown up already knows because they actually play the part.

Yes, just like satan is playing the part of your god in the holy text he's successfully tricked you into worshiping, rather than the real god. So you see, you're just making the real god madder and madder by worshiping the devil like you do.

You should stop that, satanist.

I genuinely hope you aren't a poe, because this is the level of fish-in-a-barrel thinking that could amuse me for weeks. Big Grin

Can we see your god?

Have you checked them all? Maybe one is the real thing.

Plus - I have seen the real Santa Claus in a movie - which is as good evidence as your book and even more convincing.

However, if you didn't like the example, here is another one:

The Holy Bible is true. There is no mention of viral infection.
So viral infection does not exist.
Which every grown up already knows because demons cause illness.

And before you say we can see viruses remember that there is no mention in the bible of the scanning electron microscope either.
