God created the universe because He loves you.

That would have been my second guess. Personally I think He went to a lot of unnecessary trouble creating billions and billions of galaxies when all we've ever needed was right here in our own solar system. If this heaven is all it's cracked up to be, why not skip this world altogether and go straight there? I guess God must work in deranged and improbably ways.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

No because a prefect being is by definetion perfectly for fulfilled and therefore does not want anything. Wanting would mean he was unfulfilled and thus imperfect

Add to that the simple fact that GC's reasoning makes no sense on its own: god creates a universe for his own pleasure, knowing ahead of time that the beings he creates in it will rebel against him, sin- something he can't abide, and stokes his anger- and will lock him into a war with the devil... what in all of this is pleasurable?

It also leaves him stuck, because now he's in the position where god's actions within the universe he created were also for his own pleasure, including all the wars and deaths, the flood, etc etc.

Well he does a legions of people on earth mindlessly worshiping and praising him, what kind of perfect being would not enjoy that. Maybe he gets off on making people suffer in the lake of fire.

That's exactly right: GC has now posited a series of actions that, if committed by any other being, he would find to be unacceptably arrogant, self aggrandizing and cruel. Not that he'll see it that way, of course. Rolleyes

I think that it shows the god of the bible as a reflection of the men that created him. Greedy, arrogant, prone to rage, possessive, sexist, and short sighted. These were men that feared enlightenment, hence it was the evil Satan that humanity the ability to think and weigh good and evil. God wants us as children, just like the leaders of the day that wrote the old testament.
No doubt GC will hit it out of the park with his usual wit and finesse. He is so unlike Jesus it is astonishing.
