As I see it, they reason that this question bothers them so much is that it puts them in a bind. They are forced to admit that contemporary secular morality is obviously more advanced and rational than Biblical barbarism, or admit to being psychotic.

You make up a question that purposely backs a Christian in a corner if it has to be answered by your criteria. That is an unfair circumstance because no one has control over either situation. We live in a world to day that allows both slavery and homosexual marriage, so your question is altogether faulty. Then once some does answer the question to your delight, you move the goal post, not once but twice. You in my opinion are a dishonest person who enjoys to see people in situations that make them uncomfortable. If you do not change you will be the one in a very uncomfortable situation some day.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I've lived amongst atheists my whole life, and some terrible farts have been issued- strong enough for neighbors to worry about blast radius. Perhaps Muslims have less revolting gas? Must be the "no pork" thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression you thought God did not exist. In which case how can he be a bigot hmm?

Your statement is not internally consistent.

A generalisation such as you made is only defensible if a group has a reasonable degree of homogeneity, which "christians" palpably don't. One cannot use the existence of a straightforward God and a uniform adherence to his teaching to defend a generalisation without proposing the existence of such a god.
Lemme fix it for you. I would have been more clear to state "The god Christians believe exists is a bigot, and Christians agree with their concept of god, so I stand by the accuracy of my statement.

If you're attempting to appear knowledgeable, then why are you acting so ignorantly?
I'm certain were I knowledgeable I'd have understood your statement and the basis for it.

Since I don't, I'm merely trying to understand you, that must be why I'm seeming ignorant. I don't mind that, ignorance is the first step of learning.

I'm afraid your clarification does not help. If "the god" Does not exist then whether or not he is a bigot is defined by what Christians believe him to be.

You speak of the concept Christians have of God. But is this a simple concept? Do Christians, from nazis to wbc to the amish have the same concept of God? Because if so, He might be a bigot. But if their views are different then they might also be different.

Here's one. The actions of God in the OT are genocidal. Is it thus accurate to say that since Christians follow that God that all Christians are genocidal? He is also described as jealous, does that mean ALL Christians are jealous?

I would say that admitting ones ignorance is a good starting place toward proper learning.

The concept I speak of is that a [god] exists at all, and that said god, if the biblical one, is not a malevolent bigot despite its ferocious exploits.

I think its nice to know how many psychopaths we have on this site. Or at least confirm our suspicions. And ending with a nice indirect threat there GC. Fear tactics may work for you and your bible group but not on us

How interesting.
The God described in the bible is also described as loving and merciful. That's mutually exclusive with him being hateful and genocidal. Which contradiction, of course, is one of the Dissonances within Christianity.

God might be able to pull off being merciless AND merciful, but people are not so clever. If Christians exhibit the characteristics of God, how can we (I) be bothered merciless and merciful, and all the other contradictory things written about God?

How honest of you to admit that your god is two-faced and won't allow reciprocity.
