Well, truth is though that the US is a culturally Christian country, and the founders of the country were also culturally subject to the Christian culture that was the religion of the European immigrants that founded the USA.
However, nowadays, the US is rapidly becoming a cosmopolitan state, and some people don't like it, and I understand them.

A nation who forgets the past, cannot look into the future. However, there also is the fact that Americans are in fact, not a real nation.
If the only thing that binds Americans together is the promise of wealth through something called "opportunity", what can you expect?
If you can't connect to the founding fathers, and the people who made up the majority of the US when it was founded, Christian European immigrants, then its really easy for you to say what you say. But there are people who can connect to the people who have founded your country, and wish to keep this connection alive.

Actually, I think America should return to its secular, a-Christian origins. The founding fathers were mainly deists, & many were anti-Christian too.
