Well yeah I agree with that, but I thought you said that prayer was for yourself and yet selfless. That verbatim seems at least almost contradictory to me.

They were separate statements. Yet about the same thing - selfless is always positive - so that's a way that the two statements are true.

Okay, so it both feels good and it's selfless.

But how is prayer selfless? Who/what are you helping other than yourself 'feeling better'?

A placebo is unrelated. That's like saying the proofs of your world view is a placebo.

Your level of understanding is related to the accuracy of your requests and their subsequent success.
