Quote:There's always a positive aspect to doing something not for yourself
Well yeah I agree with that, but I thought you said that prayer was for yourself and yet selfless. That verbatim seems at least almost contradictory to me.

What do believers say when you ask or tell them..

They were separate statements. Yet about the same thing - selfless is always positive - so that's a way that the two statements are true.
Okay, so it both feels good and it's selfless.
But how is prayer selfless? Who/what are you helping other than yourself 'feeling better'? EvF
As it's Gods call, you can't know.
Oh, so you just believe that it somehow helps others as well as yourself?
EvF
Just believe yes lol ...but the believe is everything
No, it's it's belief. Not everything - it's belief. By definition.
EvF
In this instance it is - in the context of prayer being effective.
And it 'just is', in the sense that, that's how you experience it and you trust that it comes down to your belief/faith in God?
Placebo effect I say -- - moving on...? EvF RE: What do believers say when you ask or tell them..

A placebo is unrelated. That's like saying the proofs of your world view is a placebo.
Your level of understanding is related to the accuracy of your requests and their subsequent success. |
