How do you attack ppl who are defending you! That's a mind fuck!
For the record - I have no problem with insults. I take them on the chin as if I were new here. It's all good. I loves that stuffs.

Don't I always say that?

If by "always" you mean "never", then sure.

So only those that have made those ideas into reality through ingenuity and invention can claim its existence? My concept of a computer came from a computer, not from building one. Just because I've come to learn more about the nature of computers doesn't mean they didn't exist. If God is the original creator, then our knowledge of his existence comes from that which he's created and says nothing of the truth of his existence; but does lead me to believe. I agree the concept of God started as an idea from observations, just like I first observed a computer and learned to define.

@dotard- If by my own brand you mean established since 1881, and by picking and choosing you meant reading within as original context as possible then I completely agree
@tav- I've said that many times to many people and in case you missed it: It is quite possible that my brain alone could make up the reality of God and my religion has an intrinsic bit of wishfull thinking thrown in.

Quote:And that particular type of theology is most frustrating to discuss.
Indeed, but slightly less than the 'for-every-drop-of-rain-a-flower-grows ' school so popular in the early 1960's and less infuriating than the humbuggery of prosperity theology. (aka Calvinism lite)
'God-did-it' is the predictable response of the child and of the unreflective, mentally lazy and and ignorant adult.
It's a self serving fiction that such a view [in principle] is the result of stupidity or mental illness.

@tackattack: You can't compare mundane things with the supernatural it just doesn't work. You can't know anything about god by observing his so called creations in the natural world, emphasis on natural. The world is not as perfect as many theists claim it to be. It is full of apparent order but within that order there is chaos as well which is expected in a natural world. You do not have to build a computer to understand how to use one, but unlike your god a computer is physically present and through learning you can also understand how it works and through reverse engineering you can build one of your own if you were so inclined.

And within that chais there's uniformity. I hope science continues to try and reverse engineer God with gene research, the "God" particle, quantum singularity, etc.

There is no room for god in science, any attempt to find god through science would be a complete waste of time, energy, and funds.

Take a look at the number of posts he's made, how long he's been here, his reputation and note the fact that he's seventh in the 'top members of all time' list, just below me :p. Agreed, he's a geriatric old deluded theist :S but he's earned his place here and that, in my book, commands a certain degree of respect.
He may not be an atheist but in every other respect he's one of us so, as padraic suggested, take some time to understand the mind behind the mask before you vent your spleen.
The amount of posts someone has made and their place in the rankings on a message board will garner zero respect from me. I'm sorry, but to gauge the weight of someone based on the amount of things they have said is the most ridiculous notion I have ever heard. I don't mean to upset your message board politics, but that is bullshit, plain and simple.

Please note the use of emoticons. My post and I think Darwinian's were a gentle chiding for your personal insult of Frodo. Unnecessary and a breach of forum rules.
I also disagree that post numbers in themselves deserve respect. Frodo has earned any respect he has here,as has everyone else who has any. IF you demonstrate a capacity for critical thought or at least of being a sincere idiot you may eventually join that group..
