Actually, speaking as the originator of that particular divergence, I'd prefer it if we could keep Elisha out of the slavery thread. I really only brought it up as a rebuttal to a particular claim about the content of our discussions on the forum, and I think that getting into an actual conversation about it there would just be a red herring to divert from the real discussion.

Can we keep slavery in the slavery thread, and bear murder in the bear murder thread?

It's my new favourite too.

I started a naming convention with my kids adding 'bob' to the end of their names. My mum trumped me by calling me baldybob. My wife recently remembered and told my kids.

Except that any powers that Elisha may have been able to use are only the powers of god that god will use under his direction.

Elisha was just a normal ol' human without the magical ability to summon bears to attack children

Yeah it's in the thread Rahul. Elisha had da powaz already as a prophet, which gave him direct responsibility for them. He abused his powers to do evil. He was at fault.

Any powers that the biblical prophets ever used did not come from within them but was the "holy spirit" working through them. God can't shirk the responsibility for this story of slaughter.

It's a story to remind people not to speak ill of the prophets, as speaking against christianity is the worst and one unforgivable sin. It's also to remind people that Yahweh is a petty, vindictive psychopath.
