Hi everyone. I'm a newbie to this forum also I just recently within the last year let go of theism. I'm 27 and since I was around 21 I have felt strong doubts about "GOD" but I also had strong fears like what if I'm wrong I don't want an eternity of torture. It took a friend to bring me to the light "the true light" and how simple it was to convince me to let go of "hell" the only thing keeping me in the dark. He asked me a fairly simple question. He said "if there were someone you truly viewed as an enemy?" and yes a few people came to mind. He then said "take the one person you dislike the most if you had the chance would you send them to an imaginary burning Island full of serial killers and where you die every night and wake up alive every morning?" sounded like a horrible place to me and not somewhere I would wish anyone to be" He then said "well then if you think about it you are a better person then God because unless you devote your self completely to him he would send you there in a hurry. And while that didn't really disprove the existence of hell to me it did take away the fear because even if and that's a black hole sized even if but if I am wrong I'll go to hell knowing I am a better being then my judge. And if I'm better then him then he cannot be "the lord" oh and the fact that the center of the earth is molten iron pretty much makes every other theism claim almost laughable.

This posted twice. No doubt it user error but is there any way to delete one of them? I tried edit but that said I didn't have the authority to change my post less I missed something.
Nvm I'm a bit slow this morning lol I see now that it was just a reply.
Greetings Clever one.
Welcome to the forums. IMHO, disbelieving nonsense gets easier. And then it gets fun. And then you get mad. And then it's fun again. RE: New to the truth

Welcome. You are in the majority here. Try not to be an asshole about it .. not that you would. You obviously have a higher moral standard than god almighty.
Heya CC and welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
Welcome, CC!
