Billions of years.

I often think that people who think evolution is false fail to remember just how long billions of years actually is.

Either they can't fathom it, or they're still thinking in terms of 6,000 years and lying about it.

Perhaps also they don't realize that mutations that don't seem to serve the purpose of survival can be maintained because evolution doesn't just let through those who are the fittest - it also lets through any who are just "good enough".
