I think the word "kill" there was applied to mean "no one believes it's real".
Much like Zeus, Thor or Ra are "dead", also Yahweh and Allah will one day.

Sometimes, people around here become too picky with the language... I agree that there are times when one has to be picky, but this was not one of them...

How long does it take to eradicate anything imaginary? just takes time. History shows that with progress the mythologies eventually fall by the wayside.

Nietzsche said the ability to assign anything unknown was killed by the rise in general knowledge of scientific explanations for things previously ascribed to God before the industrial revolution.

The rise of Fundamentalism in the US is a step backward. The rest of the modern world has no problem looking to rational explanations instead of cowering behind belief and couching their goals in terms of "what God wants."
