Unfortunately, yes. I converted a family to Mormonism in similar fashion. I told a single mother that the Book of Mormon was true, and I knew it because I had read it. I promised her that if she read it too that she would know just as I did. I asked her if she would commit to be baptized, and she agreed. I was a senior missionary at that time swooping in to seal the deal, so three weeks later the two young lads assigned to her family baptized the whole lot.
It still leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth every time I think back on it.
