I remember witnessing a huge blood moon back in the summer/fall of 2000. I thought it was more orange than red, though, and all I remember was thinking what an odd phenomenon it was. I did not attribute any superstitious nonsense to it, though neither was I interested enough to make an attempt to understand what was going on with it.

Watching last night - clear skies here in Phoenix, of course - I thought that primitive man would have been terrified by the spectacle.
And then I realized that there isn't much more primitive than your average xtian fuckhead.
At 49 years old, i have lost rack of the number of "end of the worlds" that have come and gone throughout my life.
It's sad that so many people desire this primitive, ignorant, superstitious mindset.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste -- don't pollute it with bullshit.

Yeah it was nearly 80 yesterday here, and it is now 40. There was a frost warning last night. Crazy. But the storm front made for complete cloud cover last night, so I couldn't see anything except on the NASA channel, and the live stream, which was cool, because they answered my twitter question live.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

"Blood moon" has nothing to do with the rapture. The passage in Joel being used is in reference to the tribulation period not a sign of the rapture (of which there are no 'signs'). Given that Isreal has not yet built the temple, nor has the abomination of desolation been placed in the Holy place, Joel doesn't apply. It's (the blood moon) just a reflection of God's glory to be enjoyed.
If it could be proven beyond doubt that God exists... and that He is the one spoken of in the Bible... would you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ? |
