Pot should be legal. Nobody has ever overdosed on it and the medical benefits can't be ignored.

I don't smoke marijuana but I think it should be legal for adults only just like cigarettes.
As for alcohol and cigarettes being legal, I have a different view (while I still agree with Napoleon and Awesome's opinions): - Alcohol is legal because it isn't necessary made to get you drunk. Drinking one beer or a glass of wine won't make you drunk, and everybody enjoys appreciating a good drink. You only get drunk after you pass the limit, but alcohol per se is a beverage and nothing more. Cannabis will make you high and that's the purpose, sure some people develop tolerance and need higher doses, but even my marijuana smoking friends admit the sole purpose is not the taste but to get high and enjoy it - Cigarettes are harmful and I'm a cig smoker myself, the thing is cigs don't make you high or drunk, you've probably never heard of anyone killing because of cigarettes, or abusing his family, it doesn't affect your daily life after you become used to it. Sure it gets you addicted, but it doesn't make you high or compromise your judgement. I say all drugs should be legal except heavy drugs that are very addicting and kill people in a short time, b sides making them commit crimes to get drug money. I'll never understand the war on drugs and all the fight to stop people from minding their business and bodies. As a smoker I support the ban for public spaces, schools, hospitals and other similar buildings, even for bars and nightclubs, I have no problem with it. But I think owners should be able to keep a smokers zone if they have room and can afford it, it's a choice and can get you more clients. Jail is a place for dangerous people, not for people who like getting high or enjoy doing drugs... It's an influence of religion and body puritanism if we look at it, we see harming one's body as sinful and want to ban it.

At least you don't live next door in Indiana.
30 grams or less - $10k fine 1 year in prison possession of hash - 1 year in prison possession of paraphernalia - 1st offense $10k fine 2nd offense - 6 months - 3 years in prison $10k fine Governor Pence financed his campaign in part by funds from the private prison industry. One of the first laws he signed was a crime bill that made the penalties for drug offenses even more draconian. This all happened when places like Colorado and Washington were/are decriminalizing. What ShaMan is doing in his state would put me behind bars for the rest of my life in mine. I use it several times per day. I have not been 'stoned' since I was a teenager (that was 30 years ago). I have avoided toxic anti-seizure prescription drugs completely for over ten years, all because of cannabis. I do not use cannabis to get 'high'. The majority of patients I know, genuinely need cannabis to function normally on an everyday basis. RE: Let's Talk About My Best Friend MaryJane

I believe it's medicinal use is fruitful for one's health, I was talking about recreational users, don't get me wrong. Seizures? I was on meds until I was 18, now I quit meds and no longer have seizures, haven't had them for 3 or 4 years. (July 24, 2014 at 8:21 pm)Zack Wrote: At least you don't live next door in Indiana. I've recently grown rudimentary legs and am now making the move from water to land.
ShaMan can't you control seizures without cannabis? Aren't there any medicine? I took pills since age 10 to age 18, twice a day, few secondary effects. The name was tegretol

I'm not into MJ myself, and I don't really even know the laws in San Diego County. Here, you do see lots of ads for it. Lots of dispensaries do exist, but somehow I got the impression that PD are turning a blind eye.
I have no use for MJ, but I am in favor of its legalization federally, and in favor of the government taxing it to a very high level if it so wishes. I don't know much about the safety of MJ, so I can't really speak to that, but support regulation just to keep society at large safe.

Then again though, man...hard drugs like coke and heroin can effect other people too, you know? Like it could put others lives at risk. I'll be honest, I'm not extremely educated on the entire subject. I see everyone on here and other places saying how beneficial MJ can be, but then others say there are harmful effects. If there aren't harmful effects, why would people say things like that? |
