One can be substantiated. The other can muddle its way to god.

action is a force. for instance a chair is exerting the same force as the floor against the chair (reaction). what causes the force is gravity.

So basically you're just defining your bullshit into viability? Why should we care what you think about this stuff? Dodgy
don't pretend that you don't. you love it, just admit it and find peace-of-mind.

Actually, Action is not a force. Action is an imprecise concept that could broadly mean something like momentum, or energy. Gravity does not cause a force, gravity is a force.

Learn some elementary physics.

sentence should read - 'what causes the action is gravity'. but you needn't be all righteous about it.

Chuck's conclusion remains valid, though.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

So what is gravity if it is not a force, but something that exerts a force?

hmm.... physics nitpicking.

The thing that exerts the force is the mass of an object bending spacetime and causing objects with mass to fall towards each other. The Force that we call gravity is simply the mass of the object times the acceleration that the objects of mass move towards each other.

And none of it would work without the Higgs particle - please don't call it the God particle, especially on this forum.....
