And the claims about deities are extraordinary, whether they are true or not. Thus, they require extraordianry evidence.
Except they are not extraordinary. They are quite ordinary. On the scale of human behaviour, someone claiming to have found god is akin to someone claiming to have found love.

You don't seem to be getting this. If you're claiming that most people hold a theistic belief, then yes, that claim is not extraordinary, it's easily illustrated with statistics. We're saying that the claims they make about their deity are extraordinary, and it doesnt matter how many of them make the claims.

No, you're not getting this. I understand your subjective opinion, I hold the same subjective view.
Objectively speaking, it is not extraordinary. I do not question people who claim to experience love, even though I cannot prove their exact experience.

Then what the hell point are you trying to make? We all know that most of the world is theistic, that was never the point of the discussion. Their theistic claims are extraordinary, and need suitably extraordinary evidence.

I've made my point many times and you have failed to grasp it many times. I'm done.

Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?
Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

I wonder who it is that decides a claim is extraordinary :-)

The state of the system as we can examine it. It's really not that hard.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

The people who make a claim, especially one that purports to have inside knowledge of the universe that others don't, are the ones who have to bring extraordinary evidence to bear to prove it.
