I do care whether it is true or not true, it is just the only way I can argue for it is through the Bible.

You have a group of claims that may or may not be true (the Bible). You are trying to determine which claims are true and which are not true. You cannot use the Bible itself to support itself. It's circular reasoning that will always end up in the same spot.

Oh...awesome, so you're about to get to the bit about god first assessing his military capabilities and resources, then assembling his army - a short interlude wherein he annihilates a hefty number of his own soldiers -ala Vader...for their "disturbing lack of faith" -more wandering in the desert during which time the isrealites are attacked by dragons - and finally their commanders get their shit together, calling them to genocide against both the Midianites and Canaanites. This will segue nicely into an immediate consolidation of all power within a centralized state and preisthood in the next episode. Sounds legit.

Where they fall down, spectacularly, is when they are held to be pronouncements of divine authority that must never be questioned. You only have to stroll through these very boards to see prime examples of people who cannot see reality because their special book is in the way.
