Christians. Could you be wrong?
RE: Christians. Could you be wrong?
@C4RM5...
Have you thought about creating your own thread? Why not spend some time filing through this thread to find points upon which you'd like to elaborate or have further explanation given to? You could tie this up a bit more neatly if you so choose. Wink

To be honest I have no idea what it woule be about. I really enjoy responding not asking. Any way can you imagine the amount of hate I would get.

Was that last question directed at me, or offered as a response to my question? I'm just trying to get some clarity on why you might think that running a lottery in a lab, or flipping a coin (imagine that I also did that in a lab - the two things don't seem to be operating on different principles - I assume that if you don;t consider one to be chance you won;t consider the other to be chance) would more appropriately be considered a case of "man's influence".

I don't think that chance is the salient force involved in the origins of life - but I couldn't ignore it's effect or involvement. In the end, as before- I just don't know (no one does). Perhaps it was just chance or chance was the most powerful player in that drama....... but my money is on chemistry. Where you'd get the idea that I'm of the opinion that man was involved in this is beyond me. Last I checked, there weren;t any humans around "at the start of time" -or- at the point in which we see the origins of life.

I was trying to state a point. I have heard your view, I have my own view because they are personal belief we can't really prove or disprove them.

Any way can you imagine this isolated person in the middle of nothing flipping a coin?

I think that you might want to reserve judgement upon what we can or cannot prove or disprove. I doubt that you actually hold a belief which is unfalsifiable.

What isolated person in the middle of nothing? I'm in a lab, flipping a coin. I suppose I could be alone, but whether I'm an isolated individual or in the thick of 100 other sweaty bodies.....I don't see the relevance.

Nothing wrong with claims, we all make them.

I think the way to understand the true value of the Bible is to read and study it. It does seem a little extreme, but I am not really woreied about it. If I die and God does exist I know where I'll be.

I was a Christian when I set out to read the Bible through, cover-to-cover, which I did, twice (KJV and Living Bible). I was no longer a Christian when I finished that project (though not yet an atheist).
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
