IQ is no big deal, emotional intelligence is more important, look it up.

So I just got back my IQ score and diagnosis and I'm sad

Be brilliant anyways. Fuck 'em. At least you were brave enough to take the fucking thing. I wouldn't be able to do it.
Not to get Facebook on you, but here's some Einstein for your ass: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue RE: So I just got back my IQ score and diagnosis and I'm sad

I've seen MANY instances of supposedly 'stupid' people do amazingly brilliant things, and I've seen even more examples of supposedly 'brilliant' people doing the most brain dead things imaginable.
One place I worked at, the department manager was consistently annoyed at what work was coming out the laboratory. Whatever lab result he wanted, that was never what the lab had been working on for the last week. After many staff meetings, he FINALLY agreed to prioritize all the work in the lab. Of the 22 testing series going on in the lab, he designated 21 as priority 1, and 1 item as priority 6. (IANMTU) Another place I worked at, the department manager sent all of us to computer training for a week (this was back in the 80s). This was a huge hit to the work flow through the office, we did much overtime to compensate for the training. When the training was over, we asked the manager where the computers were. He said there wasn't any budget for that. (IANMTU) Read Dilbert, if you can. There really isn't too much in Dilbert that hasn't happened in a business somewhere. Don't sweat the 108, means nothing in real life. If you wind up in plumbing, just remember shit runs down hill. You'll do fine. RE: So I just got back my IQ score and diagnosis and I'm sad

I have two girls. One of them has an IQ off the scales. She takes a standardized test and she'll invariably come up in the 99.99999 percentile. The other child is smart, but shows up just above average on IQ and other standardized tests. That child generally accomplishes more.
If my husband and I take IQ tests, I do much better if the test is timed and he bests me if it isn't. (Yeah we've done this--we're both curious and competitive). We, like our children, have different strengths. Worry about what you do in the world, not what your IQ is.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
Meh, forget it.
First of all, if my bell curve dont fail me, you're in top 30%. Yay. THAT BEING SAID * I think it is absurd to assume that the functionality of something as complex as the brain can be projected onto a single number in a meaningful way. It's like rating symphonies with a number. * IQ is not a constant and can be influenced by emotional state and disease. It's possible that you are capable of brilliant insights, but are merely a bit slower in the process than someone with 140. Try to accomplish whatever you desire, don't let a number guide you.

A high IQ doesn't translate into anything of import. What exactly do you think a high IQ signifies?
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything? That's not fair... If it's smaller than 1, it will just get smaller if you cube it.

Why on earth did your parents do that in the first place? I don't what to play armchair freud here, but very important factors are: What is suggested to you and expected of you by your surroundings (family...) as far your abilities is concerned? Have they kind of pigeon-holed you already as being not very smart, or not good enough? Do they expect/pressure you to achieve more than you do academically? All of those are hurtful and may erode your self-confidence and even affect your test performance negatively. Studies find that people perform better on tests after they have been suggested that they are good at it. Conversely, pressure can definitely negatively affect test scores, including IQ tests. This has for example been found to be an effect for women in stem fields.

Shake it off, MLA. All an IQ test can reliably determine is how well you take IQ tests. Means nothing.
