Wow, I wouldn't master the courage. In fact I watched my father wither away for ten days, fully knowing he's about to go after he suffered a stroke.

We're both physicians so we came up with the agreement while I was in medical school, after I had been in a motorcycle accident.

I honestly don't want to linger.

I've seen and sat with patients as they've gone through a long, lingering process and it's not for me.

Is physician-assisted suicide legal where you live?

Death? No. However....Alzheimer's or just general dementia - that is terrifying (IDK, when I really give it thought it's difficult to find anything about death that even -ought- to be frightening....seems like all the frightening things are related to being alive, and thats where my mind can wander over what must be damn near infinite terrain. There's plenty in life, to me, to be afraid of - not so much with death) .
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I gathered from you avatar description that you're a physician. When my father died I worked as a paramedic, but I still couldn't do anything, other than sitting at his deathbed.

Not sure, if that terrifies me. In fact I've seen people, whose minds just wandered to the happier days of their lives. But I've also observed some, who seemed to be trapped in a nightmare.

Not presently, no.

It's a fine line to tread.

We've made the commitment. Whether either of us would go through with it, if the necessity ever arises, is a different matter.

Hopefully, I'll never have to find out.

I am a supporter of it under certain strict conditions.

I really can't imagine being dead so I don't really know how I feel about it. I suppose that I have a certain fear of the unknown in general and death falls in the category of the unknown to me. It really is hard to explain.

Here, it is legal for "an adult Washington resident who has a six month predicted survival to self-administer lethal medication prescribed by a physician". Unfortunately, the way the law is written, you *must* be able to self-administer.

They deliberately word laws that way, I believe, to hinder the ability of people.

Fear is very personal. What frightens me may not frighten another, of course.
