does death scare you and why?

RE: does death scare you and why?
Of death? No, that does not frighten me.

My post-mortem biography, however, is most certainly a terrifying thought.

You're not going to know with dementia either are you. When your short term memory is slipping away... It appears to be upsetting sometimes, but with reassurance people seem to be content.

I've been sad and thought about it. I've had medical conditions where it's tabled. I've had close family die. It's something you can learn about isn't it. I wouldn't say I'm afraid of it. I want to live for a long time sometimes. Sometimes I think I'm done seeing enough. I'd like to go wander into the wilderness like the old red Indians did. Go with respect.

I certainly didn't want to belittle your fears.

I'm not scared of death... before I was alive I was dead... no problem. The process of dying is another thing altogether though!

A quaint fantasy, but even though the "red indians" didn't actually do this (theres this narrative about them, written just about entirel;y by whites, that makes them seem "different" than us. They weren't, and aren't. They go like we go - and have always gone like we go (and have gone) - you could always start that trend if you think it's a good idea. Can I get an eta on that? I jest, ofc.

Meh, did you? Even if you did I wouldn't worry about it. I belittle my fears constantly - they deserve it.

Well like they do in the movies then. I can go for that.

I had a search and didn't find any conclusive evidence. Have any links?

No fear.

I've disintegrated nearly every night of my life when my neural correlates disappear just after bedtime. It hasn't been scary. I expect death to be like that only of indefinite duration because the tissue forming the patterns will lose the ability to form them and nobody will/can store the information to bring the patterns back. This will appear permanent to all you folks who will be still alive. Not to me, I won't be there. I find the amazing thing is that I'm able to fire back up every morning essentially the same person (assuming coffee.) How do I do that?

Yes death scares me, because I do have dependents whom I need to care for and I cannot do so while being dead.

The thought of being dead doesn't scare me. Not being alive left no bad memories or any memories at all really.

But, I do like being alive most of the time, and I don't want to stop anytime soon. Premature death scares me enough to make me look after my health. Oh, and yes the process of dying can be scary---pain, loss of dignity, and dementia are all scary.

We are all getting dead at different rates, some die in a fast manner. In the end I don't want to die, not out of fear, but because it's better to be alive.
