This apparent stability in the percentage of the global population that is Christian masks a momentous shift. Although Europe and the Americas still are home to a majority of the world’s Christians (63%), that share is much lower than it was in 1910 (93%). And the proportion of Europeans and Americans who are Christian has dropped from 95% in 1910 to 76% in 2010 in Europe as a whole, and from 96% to 86% in the Americas as a whole.

At the same time, Christianity has grown enormously in sub-Saharan Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, where there were relatively few Christians at the beginning of the 20th century. The share of the population that is Christian in sub-Saharan Africa climbed from 9% in 1910 to 63% in 2010, while in the Asia-Pacific region it rose from 3% to 7%.

It's easy to "gain" when you start at zero. Yes, religion is ignorance (but ignorance isn't the proprietary mark of a savage). Yes, the level of education in Western Europe and the US is higher than it is in sub saharan africa....they're still trying to get their -primary- school enrollment numbers up. Not only are they tasked with getting more children to schools, the children underperform when they -are- a member of those who actually attend them. Our best years aren't behind us Lek...please don't make me go through all the ridficulous shit that our "best years" must include..if this were the case (and lets not forget that the past 500 years have been a time in which "the best" has been almost categorically a retreat from every fucking square inch of christianity). Do religious institutions see an emerging market in these areas, and is it lucrative (particularly as their market declines in our areas) ? Definitively and demonstrably, yes. They don't even try to hide that-because there's no sense in hiding it. That's the future of their organizations, they know it, and either they cater to it or they cease to exist. Same as any other business.

21st century is the best one modern medicine, better education, hell of a lot longer life expectancy.

They were our best years as far as us being vanguard for new development and bringing all these 21st century benefits to the world. We did this as christian nations. Christianity didn't pull us down into the darkness as many in this forum seem to think, but rather it was the christian world that was leading the way. As for growing world economies, look at China, the second largest economy in the world. In 2013 China's economy grew by 7.7%. compared to 1.8 in the US and 1.9 in the UK This has been going on for awhile. It just so happens that China has the second fastest growth of christianity in the world and is predicted to have the largest christian population in the world in 15 years.

I'm not saying that a stronger economy is better for people ultimately. In fact, a poor person who is right with God is much better off than a rich person who is not. I'm just saying this to show that christianity doesn't hold a country back as far as technological developments are concerned, and in fact it has been largely the christian world that has led the way. As people are abandoning christianity, our economies appear to be becoming stagnant. Whether the two are related or not, I guess only time will tell.
