Yep, imagine if you will you're on trial. It's your right to be tried by a jury of your peers and there are 12 jurors. At the end of the trial the jury leaves the court room and only 4 jurors return to deliver a verdict - the other 8 decided they didn't want to vote. How would that make you feel?

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

That only the most fanatical of the four are likely left. Fanatics don't see things from different perspectives and so have a limited understanding of the things they are so passionate about. Thus my jury is not likely to have a nuanced position or full understanding of what they're going to rule on.

Your analogy fits with my experience. When few people vote, the more fanatical are the ones who disproportionately show up and the effect becomes more apparent in our government.

RE: Obamacare written to deceive the public.
I would've preferred that Obama and the Democrats pushed for universal healthcare and lost, than waste all this time and money debating obamcare and won. Now I know this selfish as I have no health insurance problems. And this law has drastically improved the lives of millions. But in the end we need universal healthcare and even countries with national and free health care could use some more funding, but having the USA argue and debate whether healthcare should be privatized or not is wrong and should be stopped.

But the argument about which party supports universal healthcare and which one doesn't is the most retarded thing I've heard yet. The Republicans have have been fighting tooth and nail too prevent this.

Just because you don't agree with every policy in the democratic or republican party doesn't mean you lean more to one party than another. From your post and comments, we know exactly which way you lean.

I think of myself as a right winger on many issues and pretty much have always voted right because I will always vote against pro-abortion candidates.

But if I posted my views on a right wing forum....I'd be called a communist or socialist.

Watching you guys rationalize why you lost the election is comical.

You lost cause you're doing a shitty job of governance.

On that we actually agree, believe it or not, though perhaps not the same way.

History will have to sort out whether Obama was a spineless wimp in over his head as president or whether he was a tragic, deluded visionary who thought if he just gave enough away to the Republicans, he could heal the partisan divides of our nation.

Democrat politicians in both houses of Congress also failed in their leadership, whining like private Hudson in Aliens 2.

This in turn was less than inspiring to Democratic voters, who stayed home in droves on election day, I guess thinking that not voting somehow helps.

There's a lot of blame to go around and it goes through the Democrat Party from the president to their voting base.

35% turnout my friend. That allowed you to win and congratulations. But don't say "the people have spoken" because only 35% turned out.

P.S. Just checking but you did know that Aractus is not an American citizen so "he" didn't lose this last election. He lives in another country and thus deals with a different group of politicians.

One thing right wingers and left wingers have in common is that most of them are idiots. Now I do think I am a bit more enlightened than most....not because of some superior intellect but rather a superior effort to think about and understand issues from multiple sides.

Thinking So you'd rather have nothing at all, than have a fairer and more tightly regulated health insurance industry?
