To The Christians...What Denomination Are You?
|
I never heard of Biblical Christianity either until I began to read this thread and wondered what category I would fit in?
The phrase came into my head prior to finding out how bad it was. Gasp. My observation is that the truths of God are being restored, in reverse order of their being lost (being lost via Romanisim supplanting and persecuting Christians). Every denomination, starting with Luther (and he sure wasn't perfect) began a restoration, and each group set up camp exactly where they were, thinking they had it all. They usually fought tooth and nail against the next restoration of truth. Thus, there are lots of denominations steadfastly holding their ground. Resolute in refusing to go any farther. The above has nothing to do with false Christianity (Romanisim/ Mormonisim/ JWs/ etc.) I am talking about denominations which have their foundation in what the Bible says. NOT in the pronouncements of some religious potentate. It is true that if you steadfastly accept the doctrines of a particular denomination, you put yourself in a box. You're not open to any further enlightenment from the scriptures in that regard. My interpretation of scripture has evolved over time as I continue to study the bible and mature in my faith. And those of my family who aren't Catholic or atheist, mostly on my father's side, are JoHos. *cringe* Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" And some of the 'spinoffs' are VERY adamant about the correctness of their particular franchise, and the falsity of all the others. So I've read. But are any of the schisms of any real size? I've never met any but the main branch--at least not knowingly.

These experiences probably leave their marks. Not sure if it leaves a skidmark in the spiritual pants. I was brought up a Catholic, but a meh one. Never really got into the whole stuff because it bored me rigid and didn't offer anything in return. To tell the truth I don't even remember the prayers. But I'm no good at rituals anyway, I don't remember the lyrics of our national anthem either, although those were drilled into our minds when we were young school kids. So, what can I say, I'm neither religious nor a patriot. I find both to be equally stupid. (December 17, 2014 at 3:15 pm)Beccs Wrote:(December 17, 2014 at 3:12 pm)KevinM1 Wrote: Same here.
