To The Christians...What Denomination Are You?
#41
RE: To The Christians...What Denomination Are You?
I was brought up Catholic, as soon as I was old enough I got away from that and never looked back. I attend a small non denominational church that has about 40 people on Sunday. I don't attend church regularly.
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

My mother and grandmother were Southern Baptists. Many Southern Baptist have been influenced by Calvinism but most don't call themselves Calvinists.

Calvinist and Southern Baptist are not nearly the same, their denominational beliefs are not close to the Southern Baptist, they believe in predestination in all things.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I wish all Christians believed in predestination and followed through logically by leaving the rest of us to our predestined fate, instead of knocking on doors and handing out pamphlets.

Calvinist do that also, they believe only God knows who He has preordained to be saved, so they still get out the word, God does work in mysterious ways.

Religions are like cat/dog breeds. There's a few "pure bred", and no shortage of mixes and mongrels.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!

You are right. . . but you missed the joke. A very small joke I admit.

When I lurked on other boards, it seemed as if the majority of the Christians who wanted to debate atheists were some sort of Calvinist.

If you are religious, what church or religious group do you belong?

If you don't attend church, which church do you most agree with its theological stance?

My guess is that Godschild and Drich(Dirch?) are Calvinists but I might be wrong.

I have no idea what the Professor is. Chadwooter has told us what type he is but I can't remember. Is Heywood a Christian?
I belong to a nondenominational church. I like the teachings of james McDowell of the harvest bible chapel just outside of Chicago he is the one who inspired me to see out the God of the bible through a radio ministry many years ago. I attend a cultish church right now trying to effect change in some of thier more 'zealous' doctrines. (Trying to save a few of the 'saved.')

As a non denominational church member we do not seek out or adhear to specific teachings or teachers like Calvin or Wesley, or the other guy.. Nor do we seek out or serve any central church goverment. We stand or fall before God on our own understandings. Sometimes this means our understandings crosses paths with renowned teachers and other times we do not. The bible and our understanding/connection to the Holy Spirit is our guide, not the understanding or connection that one man in history may or may not have had with the Holy Spirit.

I thought you might be joking but, I did not see a smiley face. So I explained just in case.
