RE: Do you celebrate christmas???

Yes, I do...going to have a gift exchange tonight with friends.
As an atheist, I view the whole season so much differently of course than when I was religious. But, I find a need to celebrate this season almost like a rebirth of sorts. Going into a new year, there is a newness to Christmas. I love giving, and the different smells and sights. The lights. Christmas is about light, and you don't need to worship a deity, to have a light in your heart and in your life.
Having said that, I'm attending church on Xmas Eve with my dad...who has asked me for a few years now, and I always say no...but this, year ...I have felt different about it all. I've never really been a hardline atheist, if that makes sense. Everyone is different about it, I guess.

Personally I don't. I don't care for it. But my fiancé does, so we do a thing with his family. If it were up to me I wouldn't bother.

I do and first of all it's because of Christ, it is called Christmas after all. I do enjoy my family time very much, seeing the kids open their presents and everyone else also. I do like receiving gifts, but I like even more giving gifts, especially the ones I build for others. For me what I can do with my hands has more meaning than what money can by.
I do enjoy the food and candies, the cakes and pies, the laughing of joy of family but, most of all my family and I enjoy Christ the most, it's good to have a common thread running though one's family.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Of course I celebrate December 25th.
I celebrate every day.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

Yes I enjoy any and all holidays, who cares if it's santa or satan, if both are just fantasy characters,

I used to. I enjoyed sharing the day with family. Now I'll probably just stay at home, drunk and alone again.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Sure, we exchange gifts, have some nice food and enjoy the day. We make the place look nice with a tree and a few decos.
There's no religious element to it apart from when we ritually sacrifice a few of the guys tied up in the basement. No, they don't get any presents, but they have been on IV drip for many months. So that's sort of like food. I think they consented to all this, my memory isn't so great.
