Skip church for Christmas

Skip church for Christmas
Quote:[Image: Christmas-2014-Billboard-FINAL-300x87.jpg]

That is a billboard appearing all over the south, according to the following article.

http://news.atheists.org/2014/12/01/athe...-in-south/

Continuing its tradition of “firebrand-style” billboards at Christmastime, American Atheists launched a new campaign in Bible Belt cities, beginning Monday. The billboards feature a young girl writing a letter to Santa; her letter reads, “Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to skip church! I’m too old for fairy tales.”

I never went to church on Christmas. I was too busy visiting family, having a good breakfast, and opening presents. What do you do at church?

Actually, about the only time I want to go to church is Christmas Eve. I'm a sucker for candlelight Christmas carols.

Love the billboard just the same.

The billboards will probably get vandalized. Although religious signs are everywhere in the south, people often express anger over the atheist ones. Hopefully, I am wrong.

And rightfully so - after all, they are being oppressed by them! Big Grin
The real reason is though that they fear their loving God's wrath if they allow such blasphemy in their good Christian land.

They do enjoy talking about the wrath and abandonment of their god of love, don't they?

To be fair, the German protestantism I grew up in is milquetoast as hell. Our God around here is big on love and forgiveness, and not so much about the wrath part. The American Baptists though... if they didn't mention Jesus every other word, you'd really think they don't include the NT at all...
