Lucifer experienced life with an all powerful, all knowing being that believers call, god. Lucifer perceived god as being weak so he attacked an all powerful being even though that being is all powerful and can't be weak. The angels waged war on god. How exactly did they fight? Was it a physical battle with swords or machine guns? Did it happen in their minds? God doesn't have a body, how does he fight? Lucifer was defeated and then what happened? Because well satan wants us to grow up god doesn't. God is like the crazy mom who won't let go and is like no your staying here and going to college i don't care what you say. Then after graduation mom is still like no your not going anywhere until you get a job. When you get your job no you got to pay rent and your not going anywhere until you find a place to live. No your not moving in there or there or there stay here or you can move to that shitty dump there (I.E. Hell).

But..if I had to liken the medieval concept of satan to classical greek mythology I'd probably choose miasma over prometheus. I think that satan has, in recent times, been viewed more and more -as- a promethean figure, but I suspect that this has more to do with the resistance to christian asshatery than it does with the actual character itself.

In fact, Satan is an archetype. The rebel against the god in power, whom you can find in many religions. Because the devil cares about our independence. Only god talked about how satan hates humans when he doesn't otherwise he would have a higher kill count than magical kim jong il in sky north korea. The devil had his free will i think he is pissed at god for not allowing humans to get it free will even if god is the creator of everything the devil probably knew its unethical and its wrong to command people around without their free will of saying yes or no. In other words the devil wants us to have choices of our own instead of being talked down to. Other wise why would the devil care to give us free will and fight god. The devil he is like batman he is the hero no christian want's but needs.

Loki and Prometheus are much more in line with each other as characters (significant divergence here as well, of course). They suffer similar fates for similar reasons (and this may be an example of later revisionism....it's just too tidy). Loki's not a rebel - he's a member of the court. He actually helps them cheat people/giants/spirits on a near constant basis. In the end they banish him not for being who he is (they were fine with that so long as it served their purpose) but because he decided to play a trick on one of their own. He's later released, but not by men, and he has no particular regard for men at all. Significantly, Lokis side wins ragnarok (and we lose) - quite the departure from our bumbling Satan and damsel in distress Prometheus.
