Name one person speaking for god, who isn't self appointed.

Exactly. This is why the idea of "true christian" and "correct interpretation" are so utterly ludicrous.

And by "a lot" you really mean "all."
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

The pope obviously isn't self-appointed (except that he got to vote for himself among others)
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

True, but he is still human appointed, which is just as meaningless.

A disgraceful comment. You should ask for an apology op.

Of course the woman was only human. It isn't as if there really is a god or holy spirit. Christians aee no more or less moral than anyone else.

Also, I didn't mean to give the impression the young man in my post was my son. He spent so much time at our house as an adolescent that we love him like a son. He is very close to my sons

Indeed they are, but god does nothing about it.
To me God is a shadowy figure that works behind the scenes. But make no mistake he has things firmly in control.

God is not going to do anything about all the wrongs in the life, we live in a fallen world. If God corrected every wrong and made it right it would be heaven. We're not there yet. Too many people have God confused with the genie in the bottle.
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

I'd be interested in hearing your response to abaris' question.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

What you just described God as sounds like a sadist to me. I'm sad that you think we all deserve this horrible world because a couple of people ate some fruit.

I don't think we deserve the bad things that come our way.

Adam lived in a perfect place but because of his sin God cursed the ground. Thanks to him we life in a fallen world, here bad, evil is the norm.

In your picture, God chose to make us suffer for that - he didn't have to. That makes him a petty sadist.
