We've had a couple of awesome theists in here, some deists too.

In general, we'll judge you on your own merit, not that of some of the theists that frequent this site.

Deism is a pretty interesting position to me; in some ways I find it more convincing than traditional Christian theism. It has a lot of the same potential objections though.

Welcome. Can't promise you any griffins. Then again, get enough of those brownies in you and you're apt to find almost anything.

In general, I also don't like pissing contests either so I wish you luck with that. But we all have triggers. For me, it is feeling mislead or condescended to. But I start everyone off with a clean slate and I like your style so far.

Good luck with hanging on to your independent streak and optimism regarding reason. I really believe it is possible to stay true to those principles and also remain a theist, but I suspect that is harder to do than tossing the latter altogether. Of course, the easy path isn't always the best one.

You've already shown yourself to be more thoughtful than most theists we get through here. Generally in their first post they write a load of religious stuff out as fact, and then tell all of us what we believe and why we are stupid. Since you're approaching things in a much more respectful and honest way, I think you will get the same back from most members here Smile
