If somebody is to change a religion, the legacy of it and all must change with it, but as it currently stands, islam as a whole is an evil cult who are growing and growing, through war, terror and even immigration.

@ Rob
I don't think so, but you could be a Muslim and simply follow the five pillars (prayer, charity, rammadan, etc.) and believe that's enough to get you into heaven. There are Muslims who believe the quran is corrupt because it was written by men and should be taken with a grain of salt. There are Muslims who think what matters is loving one another and what the Quran's dogmas say isn't that important. There are also Muslims who take everything literally. The fact there's diversity tells me one side isn't right. I don't think terrorists are more right than liberals and progressives, I haven't even read the whole Quran to conclude that - But I prefer leaving that to a specialist because I don't think it is random that some scholars are progressive Muslims and have read the whole Quran.

Look, it's ok. Not all people are bad. Not all of them want to bomb buildings and behead people who don't agree with them. The world isn't *that* scary.

Dyst: so you think I could be legally considered not a Muslim if I didn't profess certain beliefs or do certain things? I'm not having a go at you, I'm genuinely interested in the framework. You may be right, there may be entry requirements. I just don't quite see how this could be legally enforced. Of course, other Muslims may not consider me one, but I'm talking about legal rights. Does being a Muslim afford me any specific legal rights that being a generic theist does not anyway? I suppose not.
I'm being anal again. Maybe I should change my name to chainsaw of anal.

What...exactly would being 'legally considered' a Muslim mean?

Muslims are legally allowed to do things that non-muslims cannot do, so that may have a part to do with it.

Yeah, I don't know exactly what that would mean. Maybe it means nothing?
I could start using their stuff to my advantage as I saw fit, like their religious "accommodations" but I could claim those things were part of my new religion anyhow I suppose.
I'm way off the rails now. I enjoy discussion

Muslims are allowed to cover their faces in places where normal people cannot, and if we say anything against that, they just pull the "Racism" card.

I think when it comes to any book, you should have charitable reading and not look to make the worse of words, when they can be interpreted better. I remember in university, in a philosophy class, it was taught you should always do your best to present an opponents argument in the best fashion and interpret in the best fashion, and not make the worse assumptions about it.
I advise with holy texts even more caution, because, in that case, it maybe Satanic forces want you to see bad in the book, and not see it's majesty and beauty. They will suggest wrong readings for verses and not make you see everything in context.
These suggestions of Satan will make you blind to the true blessed recitation if there is a blessed recitation. Therefore, I would advise charitable reading.
That is assume the best, try to solve issues you have with it. It's good to be critical, but it should be balanced with charitable reading.
