I know someone who says that a lot, and for a period of time I believed it too
But it's such dumb baseless assertion eventually you have to realize shit just sorta happens, and it doesn't care why you think it does
Yeah, if you're capable of some of the lowest forms of critical thinking, then yes, you should be able to realize that after awhile. I sort of believed it too, but then after really seeing what was going on around the world and in space, I stopped believing it 7 or 8 years before I stopped being religious. I still believed in prayer most of my life as a religitard, but at least I learned to stop defending things against common sense, and learned to be open-minded, and look at things for what they really are.
Feels good!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Did you see the picture of the dummy kneeling down to worship a bust of Putin as a deity? http://www.startribune.com/russia-and-th...305572181/
This is the year 2015 when people are supposed to have a few brain cells. Now imagine the dummies from 2,000 years ago who would gladly worship a pile of crap if they thought it would bring them some good luck. Dummies have to have their golden calves and invisible ghosts or else they will turn their leaders into gods.

Even someone like me who wanks over logic can see how easily superstitions form. Sometimes there "appears" to be a correlation between one thing and another thing, based on a sample size of 3 coincidences say. If the thing being "caused" is a positive thing, part of my brain starts jumping around and saying I must continue doing the same thing or else I might lose this advantage. I have to calm myself down and think it through rationally, and experiment to challenge my own hypothesis. When it inevitably turns out to be nothing, I feel stupid for having jumped to such a conclusion. But that's the pattern seeker in me.

I walk around the hitch three times counterclockwise before I put the boat in the water (part of an even more elaborate and gigglesome ritual, I assure you). This, of course, helps me catch fish. It's idiotic, I don't care, lol......imma keep doing it.

My dad locked his keys in the car when I was a kid and was very angry to be paying $40 to get them out when the locksmith said, "well, there was a huge accident out on X street. If you were headed that way, maybe you lost your keys for a reason."
At the time my father was still angry about paying what he considered a ridiculous amount of money (it was 30+ years ago and after hours) and just scowled at the guy. However, the following morning he was busy apologizing to Jesus over the breakfast table for his shortsightedness and thanking god for "saving us from the big accident."
Even back then, when I was still a christard, I thought it a bit of a leap to a wanted conclusion.
People see what they want to see.

Did you read about the group of Brits in Malaysia that went nude on one of the sacred mountains? There was a big earthquake six days later and 16 local yokels bit the dust. Now four of the Brits are in the clinker for pissing off the local deity because they walked around his mountain in the buff. Of course the dumb Brits put their bare butts on social media which is how they got busted. They are facing three months and fines. The local yokels would gladly gut and roast them if they could.

Now imagine how dumb the average dummy was 2,000 years ago. That's why supposedly educated humans still believe in BS gods.

You can drive yourself to paranoia with that sort of thinking....it's less stressful when you accept the universe doesn't give a fuck about you and let go
