Maccabees were not considered inspired of god. The writers never wrote under that pretense and the jewy jews never considered it the word of god. I think that bible prophecy could be considered as to why there is an interruption to why god stopped backing jewish kings but that'll be a better discussion when we go hunting for sharks Big Grin

-Daniel- made the prophecy in question, bud...the bible is the word of god.  Whether you believe Daniel to be inspired, or the bible to be the word of god.... isn't much of an issue -for me-.  That "prophecy" in the OT is what we would -today- call "socio-political commentary", or that the "prophecy" of Daniel, specifically, was hopeful (and likely earnest) -fiction- in this case.... will fall on deaf ears with the vast masses of the faithful.

They need their prophecies to be, well...prophetic, eh?
(as does, of course, the kingdom hall....btw   Wink  )

A very large percentage of ruler and politicians have been lunatics throughout history.  The rulers in the Bible were genuine nuts.  There wasn't a sane one in the bunch.

Do you agree with disfellowshipping that the Jehovah's Witnesses practice, and did your particular church practice it?

If you do not agree with it, do you think it's indicative of cult-like practices?

Actually no, JW's do believe that people could be born with the desires. The same I am born with sinful desires. Maybe god would have standards on how his gift of life is used. The difference is that JW's recognize that having a desire doesn't justify it.
Go figure out what moslovs heirarrchy of the needs is then come back.
