Again, you're asserting what you ought to be supporting.

What you're basically saying is 'All the X we've seen up until now has been caused by W. Here is a new X that is not clearly caused by W. But we know X is caused by W, so this X must be caused by W as well.'

It's not a very good argument, and it doesn't help that in this case the X in question (DNA) is quite dissimilar in important ways from the previous X's it's being compared to (language, computer programs, human artifacts).

I'm not looking to comment on the general coherency or accuracy of god ideas, merely showing that if we accepted the god proposition for the purposes of discussion..that would in no way change the facts of biology.  The two would have to be reconciled -together-, as co-equal truths.

Well of course. But seen as it's completely irrational to accept the god proposition I've been stating the obverse truth of the same matter: That even if we accepted that evolution was false and there could be no possible natural explanation of DNA... that wouldn't mean there was any supernatural explanation or add one shred of evidence in favor of God.

Any given believer has to find a way to accept the reality of how we got here, the reality of biology's independence from the divine.

Well, no. They don't have to. It would be better for them to say "I don't know" than make shit up. Like you said... there has been skepticism about gods long before anyone knew anything about evolution or natural explanations for life.

As far as I'm concerned the most intellectually honest and respectable theistic position possible is to simply admit that they have no evidence or logic in their favor and that they have to take it on faith. As Kant says, if it could be explained by reason there would be no room for faith.

It's batshit crazy and totally irrational. But admitting you're irrational is still more respectable than being equally irrational but pretending to have rational explanations when you clearly don't. Better no explanation at all than a misleading, fallacious or just outright terrible one. Better to say "I don't know. I just have faith." than to pull shit out of your ass.

You are missing the part about the information and how it operates.  See the videos in my signature.  This is obviously designed.  The ribosome alone acts like a manufacturing plant assembling complex proteins from amino acids based on the information in the DNA.  Just amazing.

'It's obvious' is another assertion. Sometimes what's obvious and what's true are not the same thing, and what's obvious to you may not be obvious to me. It is quite amazing though, I agree with you about that. I'd even agree that it's obvious that it's amazing.

DNA contains information.  Information based on human observation always comes from a mind or an intelligence.  Therefore, DNA came from a Mind or Intelligence. 

You keep assuming the conclusion you want to reach. That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence (said some Roman and Chris Hitchens).

When it comes down to it I often wonder how many theists even believe that they have good reasons or if they're just trying to use fallacies to convince atheists because they themselves take it on faith and know that atheists won't.

I wonder this because when you hit them with enough reasons theists often just revert to this preaching crap.

Granted, my "have to" is a specific value of "have to" - as in, they have to reconcile co-equal truths.  If there is a god..okay.  There are also facts of biology.  They would both have to be true, and if we have to deny some fact in order to purchase credibility for the god idea...well..it's not credible, it's not a co-equal truth.

I agree, even though I think that a person could have rational god beliefs.....if their beliefs aren't in that hypothetical set then it would be far better if they communicated that accurately to others..and more importantly, to themselves.
